FUTURE PLANS TO BE EXECUTED
RELIEF FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
Association of medical consultants, Mumbai had organized Fund collection drive with the help of AMC members for the Latur earthquake victims. sizeable amount of money, clothes and medicines were collected by the AMC members and the money was donated to the Chief Minister Fund. The clothes and medicines were sent to be distributed among the victims of the earthquake.
Similar exercise was undertaken by AMC for the victims of massive earthquake which occurred at Kutch, Gujarat in 2001. AMC Medical team, lead by Dr. Anil Suchak, was one of the earliest medical team to reach at the earthquake site to handle the emergencies.
BLOOD & ORGAN DONATION DRIVES
Thereafter Trustees and the Members of the managing committee of the Association of Medical Consultants decided to enhance the activities in other fields to promote the health care awareness and the betterment of human beings. It was felt that AMC should also encourage Blood Donation, Eye Donation, Skin and Organ donation campaigns.
More than 20,000 bags are collected till date and donated to Government and Municipal Hospitals through State Blood Transfusion Council ( SBTC).
The donors are mainly Doctors, their friends and other willing donors.
Most of the Blood donation drives are held during the Doctor’s day celebrations i.e. 1st July, every year.
Some are doing Blood Donation drive all-round the year
Along with Blood Donation, Organ Donation Awareness and Medical check-up camps have also been organized by AMC.
QUALITY OF MEDICAL CARE
To improve the standard of nursing homes Accreditation of nursing homes was started by AMC with the help of FEQH (Forum for Enhancement of Quality Healthcare).
BETI BACHAO ABHIYAN
Beti Bachao – “ Save the Girl Child” is an ongoing crusade of AMC.
The logo of “ Beti Bachao” is printed on the AMC letter head.
NURSES TRAINING PROGRAMS
AMC conducts Nurses Training Programs for untrained and non-qualified Nurses attached to the various Hospitals.
The Nurses are trained in Various areas like Neonatal care, labour, Medical and Surgical emergencies, bedside care of the patients etc.
All the Nurses are given a certificate by AMC
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT & FIRST RESPONDER WORKSHOPS
The lay people are trained in Basic Life Support in this workshop. This is a one day workshop which covers First-Aid and basic emergencies like cardiac life support.
The course involves theory and practical training with hands-on practice.
We have conducted more than 200 such workshops of which more than 100 sponsored by HSBC bank.
Even advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course has been conducted for Doctors.
ANTI-NOISE POLLUTION DRIVE
AMC periodically organises and conducts Anti-Noise Pollution drives in several areas across the city along with Audiometry camps for the general population and for college students who use ear phones and head phones regularly.
PUBLIC HEALTH AWARENESS EXHIBITIONS
In 2017, Public Health Awareness Exhibition was organized at ten centers across the city and outskirts of Mumbai by means of posters and since AMC has been regularly conducting the public health awareness exhibitions
Public awareness lectures have also been conducted for the general public to educate them on various aspects of prevention and management of certain diseases such as heart, kidney, cancer, diabetes etc.
Reproductive health lessons to the college students have also been initiated by AMC
CANCER AWARENESS
Special initiatives have been taken by AMC to spread the awareness of different types of cancers in children as well as in adults.
Lectures, Talks, Booklets, Pamphlets etc. have been utilized as methods of spreading the message for prevention of cancer.
Cancer if detected at early stage, can be treated appropriately to save life.
GENERAL PUBLIC SAFETY
On behalf of the general public and their safety and benefits, AMC actively intervened in the matter of Railway accidents. In fact a PIL was also filed by AMC which resulted in removal of some killer poles and availability of ambulance at some railway stations.
